Memory Disorders

As we age, it is normal to experience mild, periodic lapses in memory. However, there are many serious neurological conditions that can affect the forming of memories and the ability to recall words, names, faces or events.

What we call “memory” is a combination of complex process that takes place in the brain involving the recording, processing, storage and recall of the events and people that fill our lives. This process involves many different areas of the brain and the functions they handle.

Because of the complexity involved in the process of making and recalling memories, diagnosing the root cause or causes requires a thorough neurologic examination and may involve several different testing methods.
