Neuropathic Pain

Neuropathic pain results from damage to or problems with areas of the peripheral, central, or sympathetic nervous system. As opposed to pain from an injury to skin, bone or muscle tissues, neuropathic pain is often reported as being of much greater levels than the patient would otherwise expect. Many patients that experience neuropathic pain find that traditional pain medications have limited effect.

Neuropathic pain is experienced by patients with problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, herniated disks, and diabetes. Phantom limb pain, experienced by some patients who have undergone amputations, is another well-known example of neuropathic pain.

Our physicians will work closely with you and perform a thorough neurologic examination to identify and diagnose the cause of your neurological pain.
